I\u2019m Morgan Yonge, joined today by Amber Shaw with Momentum Realty. Amber, thank you for being here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>Hi, thanks for having me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan:<\/strong><br>So tell me about your journey with real estate so far.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>This year, 2025, is my second full year in real estate. I joined Momentum Realty, which is the second-fastest growing realty firm in Jacksonville this year\u2014and I believe last year as well. We\u2019re growing incredibly fast, and it\u2019s such a great team. I was telling you before we started that they do so much.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s very similar to Keller Williams in the sense that they have a strong background in accelerating growth. So I\u2019m really excited to grow with them\u2014my personality fits perfectly with that environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan:<\/strong><br>Oh yes, I love that. And training is what you always hear about with Keller Williams, so it sounds like you\u2019ve really enjoyed the training at Momentum.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>Yes, it\u2019s fantastic. When I started, I was actually with a small, hyper-local, family-owned firm. Everyone had their own way of doing things, but there was a lot of gatekeeping. You basically had to sit with someone all day and watch what they did to learn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In today\u2019s digital world\u2014and as a mom of two\u2014I don\u2019t have the time to follow people around, even though hands-on learning is my favorite way to learn. Momentum has completely overwhelmed me\u2014in a good way\u2014with their online suite of digital learning and continuous education, and I really enjoy that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan:<\/strong><br>I love that. What has been the biggest thing that\u2019s helped you so far in the two years you\u2019ve been in real estate? What\u2019s really clicked or helped take your business to the next level?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>One thing I really love about Momentum is that they\u2019re technologically savvy and stay up to date. At my previous firm, I was actually managing their YouTube channel and teaching <em>them<\/em> things while I was still trying to learn myself.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At Momentum, they share so much information and really encourage me to be myself\u2014and that\u2019s what makes me happy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan:<\/strong><br>That\u2019s fantastic. You\u2019re also an author\u2014you have a book. Tell me about it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>I forgot to bring it, but my book is called <em>Yoga and Sales: Always Be Connecting<\/em>. In the first chapter, I reference the movie <em>Glengarry Glen Ross<\/em>, starring Alec Baldwin\u2014you know, \u201cAlways Be Closing.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s a very motivating sales movie, but it\u2019s funny because when you watch it now, you realize why you\u2019d get kicked out of meetings if you talked the way they do in that movie. You get inspired and fired up, but real life doesn\u2019t always work that way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Yoga and Sales<\/em> is autofiction\u2014it\u2019s my life story, spiced up a bit but also toned down. It introduces people to yoga and shows how yogic philosophies already exist in our daily lives. We just use different words\u2014like mindfulness and breathwork. Yoga has its own terms, but they often mean the same thing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You could even take one Sanskrit word\u2014like yoga or hatha\u2014and write an entire book on it, interpreting it in many ways. This is just my interpretation and how it makes sense to me.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>When I was younger, if you asked me what I wanted to be, I would\u2019ve said a Cobra helicopter pilot in the Marine Corps. I loved <em>Full Metal Jacket<\/em>\u2014that was my favorite movie. I was in ROTC, on the drill team, very military-focused. My dad was in the Air Force, so that was my world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I never realized there were so many choices. That you could just\u2026 do something else.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan:<\/strong><br>So you fell in love with yoga?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>Yes. I started with Pilates, then transitioned into yoga. Later, I worked in publishing at a magazine selling advertising. Some interpersonal stuff happened in the office, and one day I came home and told my boyfriend, \u201cI don\u2019t like this place. I\u2019m going to do something else. Let\u2019s go on vacation.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We spun a globe and decided on Malaysia for two months. I told my job I\u2019d be taking a two-month vacation, and they said I couldn\u2019t\u2014so I said I guess I\u2019ll have to quit. Eventually, my sales dropped, I was let go, and I ended up on unemployment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During that time, I went to Malaysia, found a yoga studio, and met a teacher who became my guru. He was from southern India, near Trivandrum. I always wanted to go there, and two years ago I finally did. My husband had a business trip, and we toured five states in India\u2014it was incredible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We went to Rishikesh, the birthplace of yoga, and even passed my yoga ashram in the middle of the night. I never thought I\u2019d actually be there.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan:<\/strong><br>That\u2019s so special. How has yoga affected your real estate business?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>It\u2019s affected it in a really fun way. I get to promote myself through both together. I host yoga events and talk about real estate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Another Momentum agent, Melissa\u2014her last name is very long\u2014runs Jacksonville Business Connections and hosts markets and big events. She was looking for a yoga teacher, and I said, \u201cHey, I work for Momentum and I\u2019m a yoga teacher.\u201d Now I teach yoga classes under the bridge at the Riverside Arts Market.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan:<\/strong><br>That\u2019s amazing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>We\u2019ve done a few already, and we have another one planned in February.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Morgan:<\/strong><br>So if people want to buy your book, take your class, or get in touch with you\u2014how can they do that?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Amber:<\/strong><br>My website is <strong>AmberShaw.online<\/strong>.
