I\u2019m James Fenimore, and today we have a very special guest joining us\u2014Della Sellers from Girls of Virtue. Della, how are you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>I\u2019m wonderful, thank you. How are you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>I\u2019m doing great\u2014so good to see you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Nice to meet you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>Likewise. I\u2019m really excited to hear more about Girls of Virtue. Why don\u2019t you fill us in on what it\u2019s all about?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Girls of Virtue\u2019s mission has always been to empower and equip the next generation. Our heart is to help young people understand what it means to be grounded spiritually, mentally, physically, and financially. We also guide them toward vocational trades, giving them a platform to truly thrive and move forward in life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>Wow. What kind of girls are involved in the program?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Our target age range is 17 to 24, but we work with girls as young as 14. We realized early on that if we started loving on them at a younger age, we could significantly increase the number of students who succeed long-term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>That\u2019s incredible. How did this all start?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Girls of Virtue is actually my second path. I launched my first company almost seven years ago. From the beginning, I committed to giving 10% of the company\u2019s gross income toward vocational trades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>I was an at-risk kid from a broken home, but I got into the car business at a young age. They didn\u2019t care about my past or whether I had a degree\u2014they cared that I worked hard. It taught me credit, money, and opened up a world I never thought I\u2019d have access to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For years, God had been telling me to love on young women who were growing up like I did, but I didn\u2019t know what that meant. When I started my company, I realized this was it. I thought I\u2019d help maybe five girls a year. God laughed and told me to think bigger\u2014and things grew fast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>How fast are we talking?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>We officially launched in March of 2020. This school year alone, we\u2019re serving over 500 students through high school outreach. We also went co-ed in 2025 and began high school outreach for young men.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What I originally envisioned as writing a check at the end of the year turned into a full-scale mission\u2014creating unity in our community, streamlining access to resources, opening empowerment centers for after-school support, and piloting a three-phase program. That program includes mentorship, vocational training, and one-on-one coaching in financial, spiritual, mental, and physical health.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>March of 2020\u2014that alone tells me God\u2019s hand was all over this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Oh, no doubt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>Nobody was launching anything in March of 2020. Everyone was just trying to survive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Exactly. I launched my first company in January of 2020. I gave myself 90 days to cover my mortgage, and if I could do that, I would launch the tithe. We set up a 501(c)(3) simply because it was the business thing to do\u2014and by 2021, we already had high school outreach and were renovating a building.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>That\u2019s incredible. So how can people get involved? Are you looking for volunteers?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Absolutely. It\u2019s going to take a tribe to do the work we want to do. We need the entire city to come to the table. We\u2019re looking for time, talent, and treasure.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If someone wants to volunteer their time, we need board members and day-to-day volunteers who can visit high schools. If someone has expertise\u2014like executives who can give counsel\u2014even five hours a month makes a difference. And if they can\u2019t give time, helping us raise funds allows us to staff properly so we can support our kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>What\u2019s the easiest way for people to learn more or get involved?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>The easiest way is to visit our website at <strong>girlsofvirtue.org<\/strong>. You\u2019ll find all the details there, including our newest initiatives like <em>Men of Vision<\/em> and <em>12 Bucks Unites Us<\/em>, which help streamline resources for our students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>That\u2019s amazing. Since it\u2019s Girls of Virtue, can men get involved too?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Absolutely. All of our leadership and executive initiatives include both men and women. We\u2019re currently launching <em>Men of Vision<\/em>, and we already have around 200 young men involved through high school outreach.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re only visiting schools twice a month, and the response has been incredible. We\u2019re really looking for men who can give just an hour a month\u2014come hang out, answer questions, be a sounding board, and help point these students in the right direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>What kind of questions or struggles do you see coming up most with high school students?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>Across the board, students want more out of life, but they don\u2019t understand what it means to truly thrive as an adult. They struggle with managing their homes, their health, and their mental well-being.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Among our girls, anxiety and self-harm are major issues. For the boys, it\u2019s often unmanaged anger, drugs, pornography, video games, and constant online exposure. What we consistently see is a lack of proactive mental health support. We\u2019re reacting to crises instead of equipping kids ahead of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>That resonates so deeply. We hear about those struggles constantly.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>At least now kids are trying to talk about it, which is progress. In my generation, we were told to shut it down and not talk about it at all. Now we just need to get ahead of it. These kids are willing to put in the work\u2014they just don\u2019t know where to start.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>That\u2019s powerful. Is there anything specific you\u2019d ask the community to do?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Della:<\/strong><br>The biggest thing we need is prayer\u2014prayer for unity and for our children. Our kids shouldn\u2019t have to fill out seven different applications to get help. If the city could come together and streamline resources, it would be life-changing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We\u2019re also starting monthly roundtable conversations where people can come together and ask, \u201cHow do we do better?\u201d Just lifting us up, praying for our kids, and keeping this mission covered in prayer will truly bring change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>James:<\/strong><br>I love it.
